7:45 Capture the Cape Photo Walk Around Orleans, starting at the Land Ho!
Orleans Camera will be offering a Free Photo Walk open to photographers of all skill levels. In cooperation with Addison Art Gallery and The Land Ho!, this event will provide an opportunity for participants to photograph downtown Orleans while dozens of artists paint plein air at numerous Orleans locations.
Ian Mack will start the walk with a quick talk about camera settings and composition, and answer any technical questions that participants have about their camera and tripods. Participants will then be free to walk the downtown area photographing the artists and scenes in an effort to capture the essence of the morning and the creative process in action.
That afternoon, Orleans Camera will invite the photographers to come to our Orleans location at Skaket Corners, to choose one image that captures the essence of the morning’s event to be printed by our expert printers at no cost. Our knowledgeable staff will then prepare those images for display at an opening reception on October 19 from 3:00 to 5:00. Those photographs, as well as a selection of original paintings supplied by Addison Art Gallery will be on display through the end of the month.
There is no charge for this event or the print that is chosen for the Gallery Show. Orleans Camera is looking forward to this opportunity to bring two artistic communities, painters and photographers, together in this effort to Capture the Cape, be it digitally or with pigments.
The Land Ho! will provide coffee to get the photographers started, as well as a a box lunch for them on the patio at the Land Ho! compliments of John Murphy and his staff.
Pre-registration is required and participation is limited to 36 photographers who call 508.240.1300. Everyone is free to watch the artists and photographers.

8:00 to noon Capture the Cape Painting Convergence Around Orleans Renowned artists from Cape Cod and states away will be painting in Orleans. Works by these artists can be found in museums, corporations, U.S. Embassies, and in private collections throughout the Americas, Europe and in Asia. Adults and children alike are enthralled by seeing a painting move from a sketch to a finished piece, and it’s a great experience to spend time with the artists while they are painting (some collectors choose their paintings while they are still being painted) and at the Addison Art Gallery reception.
The wet paintings will be framed and hung for a reception starting at 5:00 and the gallery will be open all afternoon so art lovers can see the works as they arrive.
